Repair Chimney Balloon

jasonr 7 posts Nov 24, 2005 1:10 PM	Mike, Im sorry to hear your Chimney Balloon got snagged. The balloon is made of tough material but sometimes a jagged edge of metal or a screw sticking out in the chimney can cause a slice. I have had much success using a poly based self adhesive patch to repair small punctures. This type of patch would be used for inflatable backyard pools, beach balls, or water wings, etc. Most department stores or sporting good stores would carry something like this. Make sure the patch you use is plastic in base and not rubber, as rubber degrades environment of a chimney. (that is why the chimney balloon is made of a poly-plastic) If you have a hard time getting the balloon repaired yourself, you can always return it to us. jasonr 12 posts Jan 17, 2006 10:40 AM	If the hole has a divot to it ...it can be helpful to put some sealant on it first to fill the divot. I use Seal-all brand sealant and then put a patch over that. If it is off season and you cannot find poly beach ball patches you can also take clear packaging tape (the thickest gauge most durable kind you can find) and cut an oval patch out of it. Do not use a rectangular piece or the corners will come loose. Thick gauge tape cut in an oval patch like this will work just as well as a poly self adhesive patch and last just as long. ---------- Jasonr Moderator
